Assessments - BC

Occupational Therapy assessments may be conducted in the clinic, at home or work setting:

Hospital Discharge Planning

Our Occupational Therapists coordinate with hospital staff to identify individual needs of the patient. A home assessment is completed to determine appropriate adaptive equipment needs and service needs to prepare for a safe discharge home.

Home Safety Assessments

Our Occupational Therapists perform a thorough assessment of the client's home and functional ability to identify any adaptive equipment and/or strategies to enable a safe home environment.

Wheelchair Seating Assessments

Our Occupational Therapists conduct a comprehensive assessment of a client's functional abilities and limitations to assist in determining suitable wheelchair seating options. Our therapists are familiar with local vendors and suppliers as well as private funding guidelines in order to enable an informed and smooth decision process.

Homemaking Needs Assessments

Our Occupational Therapists complete a detailed assessment of a client's functional status as well as the home environment in order to identify necessary adaptive equipment needs and/or housekeeping service needs.

Adaptive Equipment/Assistive Technology Needs

Our Occupational Therapists consider a client's functional status and home environment in identifying appropriate adaptive aid/equipment and/or assistive e technology needs. Our therapists are familiar with local community resources in order to identify cost-efficient options that meet the client's needs.

Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

A 1 or 2 day assessment using standardized tests and observations to identify a client's physical abilities and limitations. An evidence-based approach is utilized to provide a detailed report that meets rigorous standards of validity and reliability.

Cognitive Capacity Evaluation (CCE)

A 1 or 2 day assessment using standardized tests and observations to identify a client's cognitive abilities and limitations in relation to functional and/or work activities.

Life Care Plan/Cost of Future Care Assessments

A comprehensive medical review and evaluation to determine the amount of support and assistance required to attain pre-accident level of functioning. Future medical, rehabilitation, equipment, home modifications, attendant care, homemaking care, childcare, travel assistance that an individual will require for the long term is addressed.

Job-site Analysis including identification of Physical, Cognitive and Psychosocial Demands

Our Occupational Therapists attend a client's job site in order to identify critical job demands to assist with rehabilitation and/or return to work planning.

Driving (Class 1 and Class 5) and Heavy Equipment Operator Assessments

Assessments are performed in conjunction with Oceanside Industrial Equipment in order to determine a client's ability to safely and durably perform the specific job demands of a truck driver and/or heavy equipment operator.

Life Skills Assessments

Cognitive Assessments

Our Occupational Therapists meet with a client and their caregivers to identify their ability to safely and independently perform activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, leisure skills and work/volunteer/school activities while considering cognitive abilities and limitations identified through a combination of standardized tests and observations.

Ergonomic Assessments

Our Occupational Therapists meet with a client at work, school or home environment to identify risk factors that may contribute to development of repetitive strain injuries (RSI) or Activity Related Soft Tissue Disorders (ASTD). A comprehensive plan outlining identified risk factors, solutions and associated costs is provided.
