At CBI Health, our team is supporting our clients on their recovery journeys using virtual care / telehealth services to ensure safe and thorough treatment during COVID-19. This Connected Care Story showcases how our team in Beaconsfield, Quebec was able to provide physiotherapy services to Grace, a client recovering at home with a leg injury.
Grace fractured her tibia badly at the end of January, resulting in limited mobility and crutches. She attended two physiotherapy sessions in March, but the face-to-face sessions came to a halt when the province shut down due to COVID-19. Grace began panicking, as she had just started treatment. She had trouble sleeping, and worried that her leg would atrophy without continued treatment.
She quickly reached out to her clinic and discovered they were offering physiotherapy via video chat. At first, she felt apprehensive to meet with a Physiotherapist online. But after showing her Physiotherapist how she was walking using her crutches, she was given exercises tailored to her condition. She said her Physiotherapist was personable, skilled, and explained everything to her.
Currently, Grace is enrolled in two virtual sessions per week and is making great progress. She went from using both crutches, to one, and is now using a cane. She enjoys her sessions and looks forward to them, saying her Physiotherapist is “nothing short of a miracle.”
She says it is only a matter of time before she is walking on her own again.
