Moncton:

"This recovery time has been very difficult for me. It meant not only healing but coming to terms with my disability. There were times I felt depressed, out of control and strangled by all the observations, meetings and general watchful eyes but now I realize it was all so important. I was trying to hide my abilities or lack thereof and thank goodness, my Occupational Therapist helped me to recognize many things about myself that I couldn't see at the time. She worked with me and even gave me encouragement when I needed it the most. By being honest and straight-forward with her, she was able to assist me to realize my potential as a person, maybe not as I once was, but how valuable I still am as a worker and a human being. I will be forever grateful for all she helped me with. Thank you, Dianna! - Jane.

What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy is a health profession that is client-centered. The goal of occupational therapy is to promote health and well-being through occupations and performing activities of everyday life. This is achieved by modifying the occupation or environment specifically for an individual. Occupational therapists work with people and communities to enable them to do what they want to do, need to do, and are expected to do.

Who are occupational therapists?

Occupational therapists are trained to understand the physical and mental limitations that can be present following an injury or illness. Occupational therapists work collaboratively within the rehabilitation team to support the health and well-being of the individual through the recommendation of preventive or corrective action.
