CBI HEALTH – Year End Message

As 2020 comes to a close, I wanted to share the internal message I recently sent to all the staff at CBI Health. I wrote this letter thinking about the incredible people that work at our company, but the sentiment is true for all healthcare workers, who have worked so tirelessly and sacrificed so much this year.

On behalf of all of us at CBI Health, thank you and know that we will continue to do our part to support you. I wish everyone a safe, peaceful holiday season.

Jon Hantho

President and CEO,

CBI Health

Team,

It is safe to say that there are not many of us who will be sad to see the end of 2020. It has been a year of change and challenge like we have never seen before. Nonetheless, there is good news on the horizon (including the recent string of incredibly welcome vaccine news) and there are so many things to be proud of.

I was thinking today about what the history books will say about this pandemic. Years from now, your child or grandchild or another family member will learn about 2020 in school and will ask you what it was like to live it. You will tell them about lockdown, and about masks and physical distancing, and all the ways the world changed. You will say you were tired, you were worried, and you just wanted things to go back to normal.

But I hope you tell them more than that. I hope you will tell them how you worked for a healthcare company that was on the frontline of the pandemic response. I hope you tell them about the people across Canada who were counting on you, and how you found a way to help them. I hope you tell them how you took care of each other, how you gave your coworkers the strength and motivation to keep fighting. I hope you will tell them how you worked tirelessly to keep yourself and everyone else safe, even when it meant you had to sacrifice some of the things you love, because you knew it was the right thing to do. I hope you tell them that, in a year of fear and uncertainty, you were a spark of hope for your patients, your coworkers and your community.

Years from now, when you are asked what you did during the 2020 pandemic, I hope you will smile proudly and say “I made a difference.”

As 2020 comes to a close, and you continue your extraordinary work supporting others, please find the time to rest, rejuvenate and reflect on everything you have accomplished this year. Thank you again for your incredible effort, there are no words to express how proud and humbled I am to be surrounded by such an exceptional group of people. From my family to yours, I wish you and your loved ones a safe and relaxing holiday season, and a wonderful, peaceful 2021.

Take care, stay safe and be well.

Jon
